What is the history of flan?

Spanish project …

Flan, flan or custard is a rich custard dessert with a layer of caramel at the higher compared to the crème brûlée, which is a cream hard candy cover. The dish has spread across Europe and the world. Both "cream Candy 'and' flan 'are French names (from old German flad "cake"), but have come to have different meanings in different regions. In Spanish speaking countries and in North America, refers to the flan creme caramel, which was originally a Spanish usage, but the dish is now better known in the United States in the context of Latin America and also in the Philippines, where he was best known as flan. Elsewhere, even in France, "flan" usually means a cream pie, often with a fruit topping. In Europe and many Commonwealth countries, the dish is usually known as a cream caramel. Feeding historian Alan Davidson remarks, in the back of the twentieth century crème caramel occupied an excessively large amount of territory in European restaurant menus dessert. This was probably due to the convenience for the restaurateurs, of being able to prepare a lot in advance and keep them until needed.
