1. The 10 commandments did not have punishments for infractions, as other laws did. The 10 commandments were bascially dealing with morality–relationships: Honor God, Honor ones parents, do not not covet your neighbor, do not bear false witness against your neighbor, while laws were not so personal.
6. Rise of absolute monarchs can be contributed to:
A. rise of professional armies, no longer did the king have to depend on the nobles for military service
B. the consent of a nation to go to war (with an army, the king could do what he wanted)
C. the king was now able to borrow money in the name of the country, rather than his own name, with lots more money comes lots more power
