Need help with Spanish medieval history!?

I'm writing a character who lived in medieval Spain (I prefer the 1100, but in general I prefer 1000 to 1200). She is like a courtier or lady in waiting, but either way she is a daughter of noble blood in court. It's in her teens / Early twenties, and pledged to a man but in love with another. I'm not sure which court to carry it, because I know very little about the history Spanish. If anyone has any ideas or can offer advice as to where to put it on the timeline would be grateful!

Maybe you could ask the question in reverse. Instead of seeking a court to put the baby in, find girls who were in the courts of the Iberian peninsula and see where were and what their lives were like. I'm not sure what they already know or what you trust the sources in general. Could it be that you are doing this for a class and have no to spend days and days learning about the period. The amount of research you want to do depends on how much you want to know and how long a project is doing. So I'll just throw some ideas out there, but you may already know everything about them. You can choose to spend a lot of it. You will do better if you research "Iberian Peninsula" instead of Spain because, as others have pointed out, Spain did not come into existence until — well, that is the subject Discussion guess. The languages are different as religious beliefs. I do not think that writing about a Muslim would be so bad. The territory that Google might want be Iberia (ie, the whole peninsula) or you could try the following names of the Taifa kingdoms and caliphate and Castilla y León Aragón Caliphate of Cordoba Al-Andalus Taifa of Almeria Valencia Taifa Taifa kingdoms So ultimately, is more sources of information for historians and like google (Bases data or search your library or catalog) for those terms medieval women + +. I will list things in the sources of the section could be useful. You probably get a lot more information about web pages and books popular press. I guess because not many people have answered here already realized that despite. Another thing I like to mention is a little literature of the period that might be useful. Someone already suggested you check out Cantar del Mio Cid. There are versions of movies so no need to read the whole thing if it is not your cup of tea (not mine, but, shhhh, I never said that!). There are songs written by men as if women are heartbroken and pining away for a lover. Some of these were written in romance, at the end of a formal language poem without the poet pretending be a woman. (The language of the street that nobody would speak at the time and is, I suppose, the origin of today in Spanish). These can be found by searching the name of this type songs or poetry or jarcha jarcha. There are recordings of music you can listen and poetry has been translated. You'll find these are really interesting for people because they were written in Hebrew or Arabic script at the end of formal poems. There are also songs like this in Galician-Portuguese, another romance from another region of the peninsula. These are called songs of friend. There are also songs about women who are married with sadness. These are called chansons de Mariee bad French. The Spanish name or in Occitan (used by poets in the region of Catalonia and the Pyrenees) has slipped my mind. Sorry.
